Our January Work of Mercy here in the Faith Formation Office has been "Clothing the Naked". As the month of collecting all things warm for our neighbors in need draws to a close, the generosity of St. Veronica families is once again revealed to me. This week, it was refreshing to wake up to a lovely light snowfall and sunny skies: a not-too- harsh reminder that winter is not yet over. I whispered a quick “Thank You, Lord” that the recent winter storm passed us by while also praying for all those in the Eastern US who got caught up in the blizzard conditions. This train of thought brought me right back to those out in the cold conditions of Cincinnati. In my warm house, I can only imagine a homeless family trying to stay warm without shelter. Another prayer crosses my mind,"Why me, not them?" If you haven't had a chance to donate your outgrown coats or boots, or an extra pair of gloves or an unused blanket, it is not too late. The cold weather will be with us a while, and the snow is sure to fall yet this winter. The need is great.
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17
