St. Veronica's art instructor is Mrs. Mollie Williams. In art class the student explores a variety of two dimensional and three dimensional media: drawing, painting, sculpture, weaving, printmaking, stitchery and jewelry making, used to learn elements and principles of design that make strong artwork. Self expression and creativity as well as problem solving/critical thinking are encouraged. All of the above makes for some fun and interesting projects that sometimes reinforce other subject areas from the student's curricula. The art curriculum covers art history, studio production art criticism and aesthetics.

Recreation of Famous Painting ~with a surprise element
St. Veronica 8th grade students, Andrea Bridges and Matt Vieth, take on Grant Woods, "American Gothic" and got a lot of chuckles from this pretty recognizable painting. The assignment was to pick a famous portrait and recreate it, adding their photograph in place of the face. The 8th grade loved the challenge of matching the artist's style and learned a lot about color mixing and art history.
